How do I become a sperm donor and what are the issues to consider?
You can go through a clinic to donate, or find someone looking for a donor. Typically in a clinic you would go through questionnaires and testing to see how fertile your sperm would be and it would be held in quarentine for up to 6 months to ensure there are no lingering possibilities of STI's.
If you go privately, you could ejacualte into a cup and freeze the samples immediately if the person requesting the donation cannot make it to the sample within 30 minutes. It has to be injected into a woman within 90 minutes after being ejaculated but is able to be frozen for 6 months.
Some concerns you may consider is if you want to have any contact withthe child or not. Also, some persons requesting the donation may prefer no parental rights granted from the donor, so thats something to consider as well. Hope this helps.
