What is Artificial Insemination (AI)?
This is a method of inserting sperm into a woman’s vagina without sex taking place.The sperm can be injected or placed in the neck or base of the cervix or inside the womb itself. If the sperm is placed inside the womb then this will require medical intervention and the procedure is known as Intrauterine Insemination (IUI).
The sperm needs to be inserted when the woman is ovulating.
Ovulation is usually the 14 days before a woman starts her period.
