This drug is commonly used to treat women with the fertility condition Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and is often combined with other fertility drugs such as Clomid.

Metformin helps to reduce insulin, testosterone and glucose levels. A reduction in insulin levels slows down the activity of an enzyme in the ovaries that can cause excess production of testosterone. High testosterone levels affect a woman’s ability to become pregnant. The drug has also been shown to help restore menstruation.


Side effects
Side effects include tiredness and vitamin B deficiency.
