Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hGC)

Other brand names, Profasi, Pregnyl, Novarel and Ovidrel

This is a fertility drug given by injection which contains Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hGC) which is a hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy and is the hormone which is measured in a pregnancy test.

It is used during IVF and IUI and can be used in conjunction with Human Menopausal Gonadotrophins (hMG), (which is obtained from the urine of pregnant women).

The drug mimics the action of the pituitary hormone which controls the release of eggs from the ovary in women and testosterone in men.

Dosage depends on things such as weight and whether other drugs are being used in conjunction.
